Week of September 25th

We are continuing with literacy narratives this week, getting ready to write one of our own. Also, our first vocabulary quiz of the year - an eagerly awaited event! Reminders on homework:
  • Due Monday: Answer one of the questions we created - or your own - for Frederick Douglass, writing at least half of a page. An "A+" response will use a quotation.
  • Due Tuesday: Read and annotate the Malcolm X excerpt with at least two good questions per page.
  • Due Wednesday: Study for today's vocabulary quiz.
  • Due Thursday: Keep working!
  • Due Friday: Read the David Sedaris excerpt and answer assigned questions.
Remember that extra help hours are Tuesday and Thursday after school. If you can't make it then just let me know and we'll schedule a good time for you.

Malcolm X was also an incredible orator - we'll come back to him when we study great speeches later this year.
